If you still aren't signed up for Netflix's streaming service and are waiting for a sledgehammer of awesome to wake you from your slumber, this new animated interpretation of the classic Konami video game could just push you over the edge. Arriving later this year from Dredd producer Adi Shankar, Castlevania promises to "end the streak and be the western world's first good video game adaptation."

Here's the official Netflix announcement:

Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepes himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.

Today, Shankar shared a look at the first promotional poster depicting the twisted turrets and spires of the show's skeletal castle. Take a look and let us know if this animated Castlevania project could be your bloody cup of tea.

Written by Warren Ellis, Castlevania is a Netflix original series with Season 1 invading in 2017 and Season 2 in 2018.
