Netflix drops new pics, but no release date, for The Punisher

The Punisher, Netflix's latest Marvel series that is part of its Defenders universe, has no release date other than “2017.” With three and a half months left in the year, the release must be sooner rather than later. But when you see this batch of photos from the upcoming show, you’ll wish it were sooner.

Screencrush published the shots, which show some old friends (Frank Castle, played by Jon Bernthal; Karen Page, played by Deborah Ann Woll) and a few future acquaintances (Micro, played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach; Billy Russo, played by Ben Barnes).

The images are heavy on character but light on plot. Only one picture, where the Punisher is skulking in a doorway with Karen looking to the side, suggests that Frank is hiding. But from what?

Marvel writes that the Punisher “is a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results.” I anticipate the Punisher will use every means necessary.

Maybe Netflix is wanting to pull a shocker and drop the series with no notice as a surprise in the next month or so? Who knows. Oh well, have a motion teaser:
