Well, that didn’t take long. Netflix has already renewed Castlevania for a second bloody season.
Debuting last week, the four-episode first season from Dredd's Adi Shankar (who will next be working on an Assassin’s Creed animated series) was penned by none other than comic book legend Warren Ellis, based on Konami’s classic video games. The series follows “the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepes himself.”
One of the strengths of Netflix’s animated Castlevania series (besides writer Warren Ellis) is the brilliant voice cast, which includes Richard Armitage (The Hobbit, Berlin Station) as Trevor Belmont, Graham McTavish (The Hobbit, Outlander, Preacher) as Dracula, James Callis (Battlestar Galactica, 12 Monkeys) as Alucard, Emily Swallow (Supernatural) as Lisa, Matt Frewer (Orphan Black) as The Bishop, Tony Amendola (Annabelle) as The Elder and Alejandra Reynoso (G.I. Joe: Renegades) as Sypha Belnades.
When the show returns for its sophomore season, there will be eight episodes total, instead of four. Hopefully, all the main cast members will return in their respective roles. Did you catch Castlevania over the weekend? Are you excited about a second season?
