Danger Will Robinson! Netflix’s Lost in Space remake has found its first Robinson family member in a Falling Skies actress.

According to TV Line, Taylor Russell will play Judy Robinson, the eldest child of John and Maureen Robinson. The character was played by Marta Kristen in the classic 1965-1968 series, and by Heather Graham in the forgettable 1998 big-screen movie.

The 10-episode TV project is the brainchild of Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold, Last Witch Hunter), with Zack Estrin (Prison Break) acting as showrunner.

The Legendary TV-produced sci-fi adventure and family drama was ordered in June, with a premiere date slated for 2018. The remake will follow the original series, which centered on the Robinson family, who are forced to come together when stranded light-years away from their intended destination as they battle their new alien surroundings as well as their personal demons.

Here’s what Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of original content, said when the series was ordered back in June:

“The original series so deftly captured both drama and comedy, and that made it very appealing to a broad audience. The current creative team’s reimagining of the series for Netflix is sure to appeal to both fans who fondly remember the original and to create a new generation of enthusiasts around the world.”

What do you think of the casting of Taylor Russell as Judy Robinson?
