It seems like every franchise can get a second chance these days, and the hit videogame series Hitman is getting ready to shoot up the box office once again.
The new flick Hitman: Agent 47, not to be confused with 2007’s Hitman, is a reboot that also takes its inspiration from the game series. The film stars Rupert Friend (Homeland) as the semi-superpowered agent at the heart of the story, who is on the run with his heightened abilities and strength. Where previous clips have mostly just focused on the action, this 3+ minute trailer actually breaks open a bit of the story.
From what we can glean, Agent 47 is out to rescue a would-be agent, Katia (Hannah Ware), who hasn’t tapped into her abilities just yet. But he’s not the only one after her. A baddie played by the deliciously evil Zachary Quinto is also chasing the femme fatale, with aims to use her DNA to create an army of super-soldiers. So what’s left to do? Judging by the trailer, Agent 47 and a newly juiced-up Katia set out to take the whole program down.
Cue several shootouts, epic gun battles and massive set pieces in a downtown cityscape. If nothing else, this movie looks fun — which would be enough to put it head and shoulders above the 2007 attempt at a Hitman flick.
