Set decades after the replicant outbreak of Ridley Scott's original Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2 will feature another bleak vision of our future. According to director Denis Villeneuve (Sicario), the setting will indeed be The City of Angels and up and down the West Coast and will depict weird weather patterns to further alienate its inhabitants. "The climate has gone berserk — the ocean, the rain, the snow is all toxic," Villeneuve explained in the new Comic Con issue of Entertainment Weekly. Filming is due to begin this month, and so far the cast includes Harrison Ford reprising his role as the advanced replicant, Rick Deckard, along with Ryan Gosling (Drive), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), David Dastmalchian (Ant-Man) and Robin Wright (House of Cards). Also on board the production is screenwriter Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the first Blade Runner screenplay with David Peoples.
