New Captain Marvel special look finally hints at Jude Law's role

We got another glimpse of some Captain Marvel footage, thanks to a new "special look" released tonight by Marvel Studios. The new spot aired during the College Football Playoff National Championships on ESPN before being set loose on the internet shortly thereafter.

Along with seeing a few snippets of the film's cosmic scale, and some healthy banter between Brie Larson's Carol Danvers and Samuel L. Jackson's de-aged Nick Fury, it finally shows us Jude Law's role as Captain Marvel's Kree mentor, though we still don't know for sure whether or not that's actually Mar-Vell.

While it could be his character's conservative, archetypal ways that Law had spoken about back in September, it does seem like he might be playing a crucial role in Captain Marvel's re-discovery of her life on Earth.

The broadcast also showed off a behind-the-scenes featurette that ran earlier in the evening, which highlighted a couple intergalactic fight sequences, as well as star Brie Larson's real-life dogfighting simulations.

While we're on the subject, Marvel released a trio of new posters for the Real 3D, IMAX, and Dolby Cinema releases (see the gallery below). Which, by the way, you can buy tickets for over at Fandango right now. Considering Captain Marvel ranks in the top three movies that audiences are most hyped for in 2019, there's a chance Marvel's first female-fronted superhero effort could break Fandango’s superhero pre-sale record set last year by Avengers: Infinity War.

Captain Marvel soars into theaters on March 8, and will return to (presumably) save the day in Avengers: Endgame the following month. Not that star Brie Larson remembers anything about it, of course.
