A brand-new trailer for Doctor Who’s new season has arrived, and it looks like the beloved BBC series will be taking a turn into dark fantasy this fall.

The latest trailer shows off a ton of new footage, including several alien races and some new (and old) friends who pop in. We get our first tantalizing peek at Game of Thrones alum Maisie Williams’ mysterious character, and fan favorite baddie Missy/The Master (Michelle Gomez) is back to cause all kinds of problems for our favorite Time Lord. Oh, and a dragon! Which seems on point, with Williams joining the cast.

We also get a fresh shot of Clara (Jenna Coleman), who seems to be an equal partner with The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) these days. Oh, and for some reason, she’s armed with a bazooka. So, yeah, Clara will apparently be blowing some stuff up. More than anything, though, it’s the visual style and dark fantasy vibe that seems to permeate everything that is most intriguing.

In the decade since the new-look version of Who launched in 2005, we’ve seen it tackle everything from hard sci-fi to whimsical fairy tales. But nothing has ever really looked like this — and that is very exciting. Both Capaldi and Coleman seem comfortable in their skin here. Here’s hoping that leads to some dynamite stories.
