The four-issue series will be written by Jody Houser with art by MJ Kim. It will see the beloved fangirl superhero teaming up with parapsychologist Dr. Mirage and entering the new realm called the Dreamside in order to protect the dreams of her teammate Animalia.
In an interview with Paste Magazine, Houser said Faith is a fan of Dr. Mirage and teased that the new realm, an aspect of Valiant’s Deadside, “isn’t just for people who have passed on.” This more supernatural territory is probably not a first-choice for Faith either.
“I personally love horror and love writing it. But as seen in her ongoing series, horror is probably Faith’s least-favorite genre,” Houser told Paste. “Being a hero doesn’t mean playing it safe, though. So even if she’s scared, Faith will go where she needs when duty calls. Sometimes that’s through time, and sometimes it’s beyond death.”
Over the years, Faith has captured the hearts of many readers. She’s a fan of pop culture and comics herself and is a fantastic example of body positivity. She’s a plus-size hero headlining comics and her size is never a focal point or topic of discussion in her stories.
While the hero might not be fond of a horror twist, fans are sure to be thrilled that they’ll be able to join Faith on yet another adventure.
Faith: Dreamside #1 will be released Sept. 26.
