A trippy new trailer for FX’s upcoming X-Men spinoff series Legion has been released. The eight-episode TV show stars Dan Stevens in the role of David Haller, the schizophrenic son of X-Men’s Professor X. So, when is the show set to premiere? Prepare your Google alerts for Feb. 8 at 10 p.m., you guys.
Legion hails from Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley (I really can't wait to see what he does with Legion) and the X-Men movie team of Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg and will be executive-produced by Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and John Cameron (Fargo). The show will be produced by FX Productions and Marvel Television.
Legion follows David Haller, who’s been in and out of mental institutions for years (poor guy). Diagnosed as a schizophrenic, David realizes there’s actually more to the voices he hears and the visions he sees than that, thanks to a bizarre encounter with a fellow patient. The son of one of the most powerful mutants on Earth, it would appear that David is the key in the war between government forces and mutants.
This is highlighted in the trailer below, which features a ton of exciting new footage. I think it must be my favorite of the series so far; and I’m including the various promos that have made their way online since the first trailer was released during San Diego Comic-Con back in July. Have a look below, and let us know what you think.
Along with Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, The Guest) Legion also stars Audrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Rachel Keller (Fargo), Jean Smart (Fargo), Jeremie Harris (A Walk Among the Tombstones), Amber Midthunder (Hell or High Water), Katie Aselton (The League), Hamish Linklater (Battleship) and Bill Irwin (Interstellar).
