Along with all the in-house originals, Netflix is also building its catalog with import series (i.e. the first two seasons of Black Mirror) when they’re cool enough to fit the brand. One upcoming example? Crazyhead.
The buzzy U.K. comedy horror series comes from Howard Overman, the mind behind the award-winning Misfits, and basically comes off like a British Buffy the Vampire Slayer mixed with (you guessed it) Misfits. The series will air on E4 in the U.K., and Netflix has snagged the U.S. rights to the six-episode first season. The series follows Amy and Raquel as they navigate their 20s while also slugging it out with evil demons.
The trailer does a good job of setting up the tone and premise, while the first clip shows off some vintage Scooby Gang style action (with a bit of PG-13 language) and humor. The show is scoring some solid early reviews, and could be a fun under the radar streaming option when it hits Netflix. The show debuts this month in the U.K., and the Netflix release is set for after it wraps there (no word on an exact date yet).
