How disgusting can a shave possibly get? When it comes to video games, the answer is pretty darn disgusting — especially when Lovecraftian tentacles sprouting out of someone's face are involved.

A new "gameplay" trailer was unveiled today for the new open-world investigation game The Sinking City. The game is published by Bigben and developed by Frogwares, and though there is not a lot of gameplay featured in what is billed as a gameplay trailer, you do get a very good sense of the unsettling nature of the game.

The story will involve 1920's private investigator Charles Winfield Reed, and depict him slowly losing his mind. Though not an official adaptation of the works of H.P. Lovecraft, his influence can definitely be felt, and not just in the realm of tentacles.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and get ready to never look in a mirror again:

Set in Oakmont, Massachusetts, players of the game will play as Reed as he launches into a new case. You'll be investigating, questioning, tracking, and doing all kinds of assorted P.I. stuff. Most importantly, the game will feature a full-scale open world, complete with side quests. If you get bored with the main story, you can just go off and screw around with whatever you feel like. Sounds good to us.

The Sinking City is currently preparing to release on Mar. 21, 2019 on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. No word yet as to whether players will be shaving off their own face tentacles or not.
