The more we see from Fox’s Gotham, the more it seems the Batman prequel will be set in the deep end of the city’s seedy underbelly.

A brand-new trailer for the series debuted at San Diego Comic-Con, showing off some new footage and offering up a tantalizing tease for the iconic Arkham Asylum, which will thankfully play a role as they dig into the deeper corners of the mythos. Seriously, we can’t wait to eventually see Gotham’s version of Arkham.

We also get to check out more of mob boss Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Taylor) and *groan* Ivy Pepper (Clare Foley), aka the girl who will become Poison Ivy. There are also some nice moments with young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), as we get to see how he starts to push himself in the wake of his parents’ death.

The studio has been billing the series as a lens into a city on the brink, and we obviously don’t know how the full series will play, but the trailers make it seem like they’ve nailed it. They better have it figured out, because these characters need to be interesting to keep fans from jonesing for Batman himself to swing in.

Check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think:

Gotham stars Ben McKenzie, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Donal Logue and several others. The first season debuts Sept. 22 on Fox.
