If you simply can’t wait for David Harbour to get his underworld dad dance on in Hellboy come Jan. 11, 2019, then we’ve got just the thing to tide you over.
Check out this exclusive cover and the first four pages for Dark Horse’s new collection of Hellboy: The Wild Hunt, the storyline that inspired the upcoming reboot from director Neal Marshall, starring Stranger Things’ Harbour as the titular half-demon, created by Mike Mignola.
Though clues were dropped when the film was first announced as Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, and when Milla Jovovich was cast as Nimue, Dark Horse's new collection announcement gives us our best confirmation yet of the The Wild Hunt storyline being the basis for the film.
In the storyline, which ran from December 2008 through November 2009, and was first collected as a TPB in March of 2010, “Hellboy is called to England to take part in an ancient ritual of hunting giants, but quickly faces a much more dangerous enemy: Nimue, the Queen of Blood, who has risen with plans to create a monstrous army,” according to the release.
The special edition comes with a new intro by Mignola, and collects Hellboy: The Wild Hunt #1 - #8. Retailing at $14.99, it drops Oct. 10 in comic shops and Oct. 23 in bookstores, with veteran Hellboy artist Duncan Fegredo, letterer Clem Robins, colorist Dave Stewart (the nine-time Eisner award winner, not the second weirdest member of the Eurythmics), and editor Scott Allie.
Check out Fagredo's cover and the first four pages in the gallery below, then let us know if you'll be taking a new trip to hell when The Wild Hunt collection drops this October.
