If you've got a fetish for watching iconic monuments getting smashed to smithereens by invading extraterrestrials, then this new trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence will satiate those destructive urges.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the initial E.T. attack and eventual victory, Earth once again is in the insidious crosshairs of hostile beings from beyond.  A coalition of politicians, soldiers, fighter pilots, civilians and Brent Spiner with even crazier hair all attempt to fend off the returning armada of alien monsters and their mega spaceships that conveniently plow into the nearest concrete structures as they crash-land.

Here's the official synopsis:

We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

Have a look and let us know if this next round of cinematic sci-fi rubble deserves to be reckoned with.

Directed by Roland Emmerich, Independence Day: Resurgence strikes on June 24, 2016, and stars ID4 alumni Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox and Brent Spiner alongside new cast members Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward.
