The CW may be preparing fans for John Constantine to make an immediate impact now that he’s been upgraded to a series regular on Legends of Tomorrow, because he pretty much takes point in the show's all-new “Misfits” trailer ahead of next month’s launch of Season 4.
The new footage finds Constantine (Matt Ryan) shrugging off his role as a outsider among the Waverider crew, prepping Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) for “the fight that’s coming“ thanks to the “rising” darkness. From there, things happen fast, as a rapid-fire barrage of characters flashes past, teasing what appear to be some new additions.

From the drop, Constantine definitely sounds a foreboding tone for Season 4’s busy appointment calendar with supernatural horrors spanning different historical eras. But this is Legends, so things can't be dark and pensive all the time.
Sure, the clip drops in on a good old-fashioned period-appropriate witch burning, as well as some kind of 1960s-vintage moment of protest. But we also get a peek at the lighter side, with a not-so-historical Renaissance faire landscape — complete with a rainbow glitter-spewing unicorn.
In keeping with the whole “Misfits” theme, as well as what we already knew about The CW’s plans to take the show into even more mythologically zany territory, there’s a glimpse of a new fairy godmother who meets the crew, as well as a naked Gary (Adam Tsekhman), holding up an apple while declaring he’s an “intern legend.”
Starring Ryan, Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Brandon Routh, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Nick Zano, Jes Macallan, and Tala Ashe, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow returns to the The CW starting Oct. 22.
