The death of Beth Childs was the catalyst for BBC America’s cult hit Orphan Black, and is essentially the event that sets the entire series in motion. But what if she never died?

That question will soon be explored in a six-issue limited run as part of IDW comics' Deviations line, which imagines alternate realities in established properties (a previous Deviations run focused on My Little Pony). For Orphan Black, that deviation is Beth. In this alternate timeline, instead of watching Beth kill herself, Sarah actually saves her. IDW promises it will show a reality where Sarah doesn’t step into Beth’s life, and they instead both survived to start unraveling these mysteries.

The most recent season has done an amazing job of filling in some of the history surrounding the later weeks and months of Beth’s life, as her investigation came to a head and her life unraveled. So it’ll be interesting to see her state of mind coming off what will now be an attempted suicide. As the show prepares to kick off its final season in 2017, it should make for one heck of a fun diversion.

The series will be written by Heli Kennedy, with art by Wayne Nichols. The first issue hits in March 2017.
