The second half of AMC's devilishly good Preacher Season 3 was teased at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday night, and it was certainly not for the faint-hearted. The trailer is filled to the brim with bloody violence and shocking visuals that are sure to delight fans of the twisted show.
Season 3 sees Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) go back to the place he’s been avoiding his whole life, his home, otherwise known as Angelville, the Louisiana plantation where he was raised, and where old grudges and deadly obligations await him. And judging by the clip below, things are only set to get worse for the small-town preacher.
The panel at SDCC featured cast members Cooper, Ruth Negga, and Joseph Gilgun, along with executive producer and showrunner Sam Catlin, and executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
"Each and every episode that Sam creates, I get more and more excited about what [Jesse] can become,” Cooper told the crowd, although there was one scene from the new series that he probably wouldn’t want to try out again in a hurry.
Rogen and Goldberg told a story about a scene in which Jesse is submerged in water in a coffin, and they shot it with Cooper actually in the casket and scared during the scene, but apparently he didn't need to be. Cooper appeared to be legitimately shocked when Rogen said on the panel that the scene was not supposed to be shot that way.
Meanwhile, Catlin directed the season finale himself and says it's one of the biggest episodes they've done. "If they could be in a worse situation than they were at the beginning of the season, that's where they find themselves."
