After ending its first season with a bang amid the promise of Morlocks, the mutant youngsters of Fox’s The Gifted are ready to expand the X-Men universe in any and all ways separate from the films. They just want to belong, okay?
At the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, executive producers Matt Nix and Jeph Loeb joined stars Stephen Moyer, Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, Natalie Alyn Lind, and Skyler Samuels in a huge showcase of the upcoming Season 2 - post-Atlanta Station explosion. They screened a killer trailer with lots of details and a new subtitle for Season 2: "Dawn of the Mutant Age."
We time hop several months down the road, see the "real" Mutant Underground (Morlocks, Chung confirmed) as D.C. has blackouts and plenty of chaos, and see a brief snippet of an upcoming childbirth scene -- one of its most intense moments. "Mutant labor is different than it is for humans," teased Dumont. Chung also confirmed that we'll see the baby in the season -- and Teale acted alongside its prop double.
We also see plenty of the season's Big Bad (played by Grace Byers), who is "preparing for war." Everything is getting bigger, badder, and WAY more super in The Gifted’s second season when it hits this fall.
