Soon, you'll be able to boldly go where no one has gone before, right from your smartphone.

The Star Trek universe is the setting for a new mobile game, Star Trek Fleet Command, a mobile multiplayer strategy/RPG. Set within the Kelvin timeline, which began with J.J. Abrams' 2009 reboot, the game will give players the chance to choose from hundreds of possible missions across the known universe. You'll also be able to team up with Trek favorites while you broker new relationships with alien races.

"Star Trek Fleet Command is a unique new Star Trek game that lets fans decide their own fate in a vibrant galaxy full of epic ships and iconic characters," said CBS Interactive EVP and general manager Rob Gelick in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "By bringing a massive multiplayer universe to mobile devices, Star Trek Fleet Command expands the franchise in a bold new way."

While it might be strategy-based, the trailer released today implies there will be a cinematic element behind it.

The game comes courtesy of Scopely, the company behind The Walking Dead: Road to Survival, in partnership with DIGIT Game Studios, which also developed the massively popular Kings of the Realm.

This comes as part of the all-new Star Trek expansion that CBS has been talking about for some time. Right now, the second season of Star Trek: Discovery is gearing up, with the delightful Short Trek series tiding us over in the meantime. Coming up there's the just-announced Trek-set animated comedy series Lower Decks and the upcoming Picard spinoff, featuring (you guessed it) Sir Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard. Not to mention the two Star Trek feature films currently in development from Quentin Tarantino and S.J. Clarkson, respectively.

Star Trek Fleet Command will be available for free on the App Store and Google Play starting Nov. 29. Will you be playing?
