At the end of theStar Wars Rebels panel at Toronto Fan Expo Saturday, Lucasfilm announced the fourth and final season of the series will premiere on Oct. 16, 2017. But that announcement came after a second trailer for the season was shown off to fans, and now released online!

The trailer has some notable firsts, like X-wings, finally coming to the series as it rapidly approaches the events ofRogue One: A Star Wars Story andStar Wars: A New Hope. There are more Loth Wolves, and a fun little rhyme to start things off, plenty of action, and a sense of both anticipation and foreboding throughout.

Speaking ofRogue One, you may have heard Tarkin make mention of it. Discussing plans with Thrawn, it sounds like Thrawn's not getting much support for his methods because of someone else.

"Your TIE defender is at risk. Krennic has been quite persuasive about his own project... Stardust."

We also got new shots of Saw Gerrera, who, asRogue One's events approach, seems to be losing more of his grip on sanity - and his patience. He tells the Rebels crew that "if you continue to allow this war to be fought on the Empire's terms, you are going to lose." Seems like he'll be right up against Mon Mothma this season, giving us some insight into that relationship.

While the first trailer for Season 4 dealt mostly with the Mandalorians and alluded to "an ending we didn't expect," this trailer is more about the journey to get there. There's more mythology to it all, as Ezra interacts with the Loth Wolves, and more of the relationships, especially the much-loved "Kanera" relationship between Hera and Kanan.

Ultimately, "it's not whether or not we fight," as Kanan says, "it's about how we choose to fight that matters," Ezra replies. "I know, Kanan. Maybe we're choosing to fight the wrong way."

There's even a nice little split-second callback to the very first episode of the series in there.

Watch the trailer (or watch it again and again and again) and see what you can pull out of it, and get your countdown clocks set to Oct. 16, and start stocking up on the Kleenex now.
