The studio Film4 unveiled a new trailer for How to Talk to Girls at Parties, an upcoming movie based on Neil Gaiman’s (American Gods) 2006 Hugo Award nominated short story of the same name.

The story takes place in suburban London in the late 1970s where Enn (Alex Sharp) crashes a party by local punk matriarch Queen Boadicea (Nicole Kidman) and meets and falls in love with the enigmatic "foreign exchange student" Zan (Elle Fanning)… who is actually an alien sent to Earth with a bunch of other teenagers for a mysterious rite of passage. When Enn discovers their secret, he turns to Boadicea and her followers to help the girl of his dreams.

Boasting an impresive cast that includes Fanning (Maleficent), Kidman (Aquaman), Ruth Wilson (The Affair), Matt Lucas (Doctor Who) and Tony Award winner Sharp (To the Bone), the movie was directed by Hedwig and the Angry Inch helmer John Cameron Mitchell from a script co-written with Philippa Goslett (Little Ashes).

How to Talk to Girls at Parties opened at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival back in May amidst mixed reviews and will be released in Japan on Dec. 1. There’s no North American premiere date slated for the movie yet, but don’t expect to see this arrive before 2018.
