If you love big genre blockbusters, 2015 seems set to be a damn good year for you. We're about a month away from Avengers: Age of Ultron, and then, later in the year, we get everything from Ant-Man to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There are a lot of huge movies coming out this year, and if you had told me a few months ago that the one I'd be most excited for would be Mad Max: Fury Road, I would've called you crazy. It wasn't so long ago that we were wondering whether writer/director George Miller would ever even finish this movie, or if it would be anything more than a mess after being put through the Development Hell wringer. But here we are, and every single piece of footage we've seen so far is mind-blowing.
The film stars Tom Hardy in the title role, and this time around, he meets up with Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman trying to cross the wasteland while being pursued by the skull-faced Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne). What follows is as "Road War," an epic car chase clash that spans the desert and, from the looks of things, features crash after crash after awesome crash. The first footage hit us at San Diego Comic-Con last year, and as awesome as it was, every piece of footage that's dropped since then has topped it. The new trailer, which arrived today, is no different.
This time around, we get a better look at Immortan Joe and his scary-cool band of warriors, as well as the desert compound he seems to call home, complete with a skull waterfall. Then, of course, there's more awesome road war footage, including some incredible new looks at stunts. There's even a flamethrower guitar. No, really. Check it out.
Even if it's not at the top of your 2015 list, you've gotta admit these trailers pump you up for Mad Max: Fury Road. At this point, if it's not a must-see for you, well ... I really wonder if you know how to have fun at the movies.
Mad Max: Fury Road will have it world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14, before hitting theaters on May 15.
