In one of the better pilots I’ve seen this season so far, last night’s gorgeous-looking first episode of HBO’s Westworld premiered to some shocking twists and turns that perfectly set up Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s new sci-fi series.

Based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 movie, Westworld is toplined by a strong cast that includes the All-Father himself, Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Rachel Evan Wood, Thandie Newton, Rodrigo Santoro, Luke Hemsworth (if you guys thought he looked strangely familiar, it's because he's Chris and Liam Hemsworth's older brother) and Ed Harris as the mysterious and ruthless Man in Black.

Since I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone who've yet to see the episode, I invite those of you who have seen the pilot to read my esteemed colleague Tara Bennett’s brilliant review/recap of the series premiere right here.

HBO has now released an “In The Weeks Ahead” promo trailer which gives us an exciting sneak peek into what's coming up in the back nine episodes of the 10-episode series. Looks like it's going to be a wild ride. Have a look below, and let us know what you think.

Westworld is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin, exploring a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.
