Timed to coincide with the upcoming 11th season of The X-Files (which premieres Jan. 3, 2018), FoxNet Games and Creative Mobile have teamed up to create a new X-Files mobile game.
Called X-Files: Deep State, the "mystery puzzle game" will be available on iOS and Android devices, as well as on Facebook. You'll be teamed with Agent Dale (perhaps a none-too-subtle Twin Peaks reference?) in order to investigate government conspiracies.
According to Variety, the game is set during the spring of 2010, which would place this storyline between Season 9 (which wrapped in 2002) and Season 10 (which premiered in 2016) of the TV series. X-Files: Deep State "will feature a storyline revolving around the alien invasion and government conspiracies, as well as self-contained episodes related to various paranormal cases."
New cases will be available monthly, and will include a selection of "mytharc" and "monster of the week" cases. The game will be free to play, with in-app purchases available.
An official website for the game, xfilesgames.com, has a countdown timer that suggests a Feb. 6, 2018, release date. Judging from the screenshots on the site, it looks like the game will consist of hidden object games, traditional puzzles, and the ability to choose how you proceed: with truths or lies. You can also get a sneak peek at the game above, complete with a puzzle that requires you to put together the pieces of a shredded document.
So, what do you think? Could the truth be in this new X-Files mobile game?
