New Before Watchmen art shows the old (young) gang together again

With the controversial Before Watchmen prequel comics set to launch soon, DC has opened up the vault to show the first group shot of the younger Watchmen assembled together.

The group image was drawn by Lee Bermejo, who has worked on numerous DC and Marvel properties over the years.

Looking at the pic, it's eerily creepy to see the whole gang together in their prime, brooding over alt-Manhattan.

The artwork was released as part of a new initiative at DC to push digital comics, and some additional pieces should be released in the coming weeks at the Watchmen page.

In case you've been living under a rock the past few weeks, the Before Watchmen project will include several spinoffs based on the characters made famous in Alan Moore's iconic 1986 Watchmen graphic novel.

The new run will focus on:

RORSCHACH (4 issues) - Writer: Brian Azzarello. Artist: Lee Bermejo

MINUTEMEN (6 issues) - Writer/Artist: Darwyn Cooke

COMEDIAN (6 issues) - Writer: Brian Azzarello. Artist: J.G. Jones

DR. MANHATTAN (4 issues) - Writer: J. Michael Straczynski. Artist: Adam Hughes

NITE OWL (4 issues) - Writer: J. Michael Straczynski. Artists: Andy and Joe Kubert

OZYMANDIAS (6 issues) - Writer: Len Wein. Artist: Jae Lee

SILK SPECTRE (4 issues) - Writer: Darwyn Cooke. Artist: Amanda Conner

Sound off: Do you think DC is making the right move to watch the Watchmen in their younger days?
