A couple of weeks ago the producers of Ender's Game teased the hell out of us with the first image from the film's set. Now image number two has made its way to the net, giving us our first very, very small glimpse at Ender's Battle School.
The image appeared last week on the small "production blog" run over at Tumblr by the Ender's Game producers. Titled "Ender's World," the image is nothing more than a small metal panel labeled "Utility Deck G" and, in smaller type, "Hall Number 0058." It's our first look at the military academy for youngsters where Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) will be trained in the ways of space war.
The image came complete with this caption:
"If you think regular school is tough, try it in a rotating space station. And by the way, do you have a hall pass for hall number 0058? Because if you don't, you could end up scrubbing the showers. When you first arrive at Battle School, all you perceive is its utility, its functionality... that is until you enter the BATTLE ROOM, where there is no up, no down, and ZERO G's. Movie making can become overly reliant on digital worlds, and nothing can replace a well-built set that you can see and touch and stand in the middle of, fooling you into thinking you are really there. Enjoy this small taste of Ender's big world. We'll see a lot more in the weeks to come."
It's nice to know they're actually building this stuff over on the Ender set rather than letting CGI do all the work for them. It's cool to see a tiny corner of Battle School, but we want more! Hopefully the weeks to come will bring with them a shot of Harrison Ford as Graff.
