The first installment of Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man took its time with Peter Parker's (Andrew Garfield) life, focusing on his first love Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). But his eventual long-time gal Mary Jane Watson is reportedly going to show up in part two, and now we know what to expect from her debut.

Apparently, not a whole lot, at least according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Word just recently broke that Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) has been cast as Mary Jane in Amazing Spider-Man 2, which got everyone wondering how big of a role she would have, and what it would mean for Gwen (especially considering her comic book fate).

Per this buzz, it seems she'll have an elaborate cameo in part two that will grow into a starring role in an eventual third film. Here's the report:

"[T]he Mary Jane role is proving to be only a very small part in Amazing Spider-Man 2 but blossoms into an integral lead for the planned third movie as the studio seeks to build to the classic 'Death of Gwen Stacy' story."
This makes a lot of sense, and fits with Webb's focus on taking a different tack with the origin tale and finally giving the Gwen Stacy storyline some space to breathe. But you have to wonder how fans will take to Mary Jane's eventual introduction, after getting used to two films of Gwen.

What do you think? Are you hoping for more Gwen Stacy, or a quick intro for Mary Jane?
