News briefs: Discipline coming; Hobbiton rebuilding

David Permut and Steve Lee Jones will produce a feature version of Paco Ahlgren's sci-fi adventure novel Discipline, Variety reported; the story, published last year as Ahlgren's first novel, centers on a man's psychological battle with an enemy he cannot see, the outcome of which determines the past, present and future of human existence.

Matthew Michael Carnahan (State of Play) has been set to rewrite the movie version of World War Z, Fangoria reported.

Jon_Favreau tweeted that "We just wrapped principal photography" on Iron Man 2 in Los Angeles on Friday.

In anticipation of production on The Hobbit, TheOneRing.net reported that the re-building of Hobbiton has begun, with the planting of hedgerows and fruit trees on the New Zealand set (above; click to enlarge) that was previously used in The Lord of the Rings; you can see more images here.

VIZ Media will publish a series of new comics and picture books based on Ponyo, the new animated film from Studio Ghibli and dirctor Hayao Miyazaki.
