News briefs: Dollhouse art auction; Zac Efron going back to the future

Dollhouse writers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen are auctioning off the prop painting by the character of Priya from the episode "Belonging" on eBay to benefit Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Teen heartthrob Zac Efron may star in a Back to the Future-like sci-fi movie that is based in part on Algorithm, a pitch being developed by Warner Brothers, Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood reported.

Fox's Fringe delivered above-season-average ratings last night, HitFix reported; among adults 18-49, FOX averaged a 3.3 rating for the night.

Warner Bros. has applied for permission to purchase and refurbish the Leavesden Studios, the British studio where it has filmed its Harry Potter movies, Variety reported; if the sale goes through, it would make Warner the first Hollywood studio to have a permanent production base in Europe since MGM set up MGM London Films at Elstree Studios, near Leavesden, in the early 1940s.

A remastered edition of Ralph Bakshi's animated The Lord of the Rings movie drops on Blu-ray/DVD on April 6.
