News briefs: Lutz joins Nightmare, Wolverine revelation

Twilight actor Kellan Lutz is in talks to join the cast of New Line's A Nightmare on Elm Street, being directed by Samuel Bayer and Platinum Dunes, according to The Hollywood Reporter; Lutz will play a popular school jock opposite Jackie Earle Haley (as Freddy Krueger), Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner and Thomas Dekker.

The town of Riverside, Iowa—which has staked a claim as the birthplace of Star Trek's James T. Kirk—will get a special sneak preview of the movie for Trek Fest, Riverside's annual summer festival, in neighboring Iowa City on May 6; the movie is slated to open wide on May 8.

Remember that leaked workprint of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which Fox maintained was an early version of the movie? Ain't It Cool News is reporting that the leaked version is in fact identical to the final release version of the movie, sans finished visual effects and other technical tweaks: "It's obvious that Fox is trying their darndest to keep this news from getting out, because it will eliminate most of the motivation for people who have seen the workprint to pay for a ticket."
