News briefs: Potter screens at midnight; Lautner at Comic-Con

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will debut in special midnight shows on July 14 before the film's regular engagement begins the following day; Warner Brothers has also posted a "put yourself inside The Daily Prophet" feature on the official Web site.

TL Daily confirmed that Taylor Lautner, one of the stars of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, will attend Comic-Con International in San Diego this month, part of the panel to promote the sequel, barring schedule conflicts.

Caprica writer Jane Espenson tweeted that production began today in Vancouver, Canada, on the Battlestar Galactica prequel series: "Headed to production office for my 1st day here in Vancouver w/the amazing people who will actually make Caprica."

Syfy's pro-social campaign Visions for Tomorrow is launching a year-long initiative to provide free Wyfy (Wi-Fi) at New York City landmarks, starting today in Rockefeller Center and later this summer in Union Square, to coincide with the evolution of SCI FI Channel to Syfy, starting today.
