News briefs: Super 8 trailer live; Buffy's 'Xander' in rehab

The new trailer has gone live for Super 8, the mysterious new sci-fi movie from director J.J. Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg; the trailer, which premiered with Iron Man 2, is on, and the movie opens next summer.

Colin Farrell has signed to star as Jerry the vampire opposite Star Trek's Anton Yelchin in Fright Night, the upcoming remake of the 1985 horror comedy movie, reported; The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision, meanwhile, reports that Australian actress Toni Collette has also joined Fright Night.

Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon, who was arrested in March, has checked into rehab, reported; Brendon, 38, has said that alcohol and the sleeping pill Sonata were to blame for his confrontation with police.

Director Michael Bay says that Skids and Mudflap, the controversial robot twins from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, will not be back for next summer's Transformers 3 in a message on his online forum: "The Twins are not back in T3."

The CW will air reruns of Moonlight on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, beginning June 3, following encore episodes of the first season of The Vampire Diaries.
