News briefs: Chabon rewrites Mars, Keener joins Jackson

Ain't It Cool News reports that author Michael Chabon has been brought in to do some revisions on Andrew Stanton and Mark Andrews' script for John Carter of Mars, based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom books.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Catherine Keener has joined the cast of Fox 2000's Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, Christopher Columbus' adaptation of Rick Riordan's fantasy-adventure book series.

Documentarian Errol Morris (Fog of War) will direct the Untitled Cryonics Project, which Zach Helm is writing, Variety reported; the dark comedy was inspired by both Robert F. Nelson's memoir We Froze the First Man and a story that aired on NPR's "This American Life" this week titled "You're as Cold as Ice."

A settlement has been reached in Moritz Borman's lawsuit against two of his fellow Terminator Salvation producers and their Halcyon Co. banner, Variety reported; details of the settlement were not available and none of the parties were immediately available for comment.

David Matalon's DM Productions has snagged feature-film rights to British author Danny King's upcoming superhero novel The Henchmen's Book Club, Variety reported; the story centers on a lowly henchman for hire working for some of the world's most notorious supervillains who starts up a book club.
