News briefs: Fresh Blood, Big Trek, New Jericho

Valerie Cruz has landed a recurring role on HBO's vampire drama True Blood, playing Isabel, an elegant Hispanic vampire, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The new trailer for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek had more than 1.8 million downloads during its first 24 hours on and has gone on to become the most popular HD download ever on the site, with more than 5 million downloads in its first five days, Paramount announced.

Kyla Pratt returns as Maya Dolittle, who is heading off to college when Hollywood starlet Tiffany Monaco seeks out her canine counsel to help with her depressed Chihuahua.

Mira Sorvino, Scott Foley, Victor Garber and Omar Sharif star in The Last Templar, which debuts on DVD May 5 from Genius Products and RHI Entertainment.
