News briefs: 'Geordi' in accident; Superman creator's fetish

UPDATE: People magazine reports that Star Trek: The Next Generation star LeVar Burton was injured in a five-car accident in West Los Angeles. He was driving his 2006 Mercedes eastbound along Beverly Boulevard at about 7:40 p.m. Monday when a 74-year-old woman driving westbound turned left in front of him. The wreck caused a five-car pileup, although no one was seriously injured. Burton complained of neck pain and was treated at a nearby hospital and released.

Days after the heirs of Superman co-creator Jerome Siegel were rebuffed in a lawsuit against Warner Brothers, co-creator Joe Shuster is at the center of a film deal: The Gotham Group has optioned screen rights to the nonfiction Secret Identity: The Fetish Art of Superman's Co-Creator Joe Shuster, a book by Craig Yoe, Variety reported.

Production Weekly tweeted that filming has just wrapped on Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends, a reboot of the legendary Ultraman franchise directed Koichi Sakamoto.

MGM Home Entertainment will release the Stargate Atlantis Fans' Choice Blu-ray on Aug. 4, featuring episodes and cover art selected by fans in an online poll.
