Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones, based on Alice Sebold's best-seller, has been selected for the Royal Film Performance 2009, which will take place in late November in London's Leicester Square as a benefit for charity.

Variety reports that Chris Messina (Julie & Julia) will star in Universal Pictures' Devil, a horror-thriller based on an M. Night Shyamalan story that will be directed by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle (Quarantine).

The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder will play the lead role in the romantic gothic fairy tale Cradlewood, according to The Hollywood Reporter; Harry Weinmann is directing the independent project based on a script by Stephen Sewell and John Paul Chapple.

A new Facebook page and Twitter feed have gone live for The Fourth Kind, Universal's upcoming alien-abduction movie.
