News briefs: New Frankenstein, new werewolves

Production Weekly tweeted that director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) is attached to direct David Auburn's adaptation of Peter Ackroyd's novel Casebook Of Victor Frankenstein.

The Wolfman drops on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download on June 1 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment; both the Blu-ray and DVD releases will contain two versions of the movie, including a never-before-seen unrated director's cut, as well as the theatrical version of the film.

Speaking of wolfmen, Production Weekly also tweeted that Steve Pink (Hot Tub Time Machine) is attached to direct the Brian Charles Frank ensemble comedy Werewolves of Reseda.

Starz's Spartacus: Blood and Sand hit another series high in the ratings Friday night, with 1.3 million viewers, up 14 percent from last week, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

FlashForward co-star Christine Woods has been tapped as the female lead in NBC's comedy pilot Perfect Couples, but only if ABC does not renew FlashForward for a second season, according to the Reporter.
