News briefs: Percy Jackson, Despicable trailers; Cirque renamed

Moviefone has posted the first trailer for the upcoming fantasy film Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, which you can watch at the link above; the movie, based on Rick Riordan's books, opens Feb. 12, 2010.

Yahoo has posted a new trailer for Universal's upcoming 3-D animated Despicable Me, which you can view at the link; the movie, featuring the voice of Steve Carell, focuses on Gru, a master thief whose next heist is the moon. Despicable Me opens July 9, 2010.

Shock Till You Drop reports that Universal has changed the title of the horror movie Cirque du Freak to The Vampire's Assistant and moved the release date to Oct. 23; the movie is based on Darren Shan's novel.

In addition to hosting a panel on The Twilight Saga: New Moon at Comic-Con in San Diego, Summit Entertainment will present "The Twilight Experience," a one-night-only special theatrical re-release of the first Twilight, featuring an introduction by cast members, for $10, available only at Fandango.

Farscape creator Rockne S. O'Bannon, meanwhile, will sign a one-of-a-kind collector's "Scorpius Edition" of the Farscape volume one hardcover book, an exclusive to Comic-Con, limited to 500 copies and available only at the BOOM! Studios Booth (2543), Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 3:45 p.m.
