News briefs: Potter's new wizard, Gervais' new HBO show

Zap2it reported that Jamie Campbell Bower will play Gellert Grindelwald, a dark wizard, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; in J.K. Rowling's book, Grindelwald and Dumbledore fall out after the death of Gellert's Dumbledore's sister and Gellert's turn to the Dark side. [Zap2it's error, not ours!]

HBO has ordered an animated TV series based on Ricky Gervais' popular series of podcasts, Variety reported; The Ricky Gervais Show features Gervais and his longtime collaborator Stephen Merchant and revolves around the world of their unusual friend, Karl Pilkington.


Dollhouse may have scored a second season, but it looks like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles won't get a pickup when Fox unveils its fall schedule today, the Hollywood trade papers reported.

Green Knight Ventures will produce a contemporary adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's classic story "The Fall of the House of Usher," according to The Hollywood Reporter; Claire Forlani, Dougray Scott and Rufus Sewell will star in the film, which will be titled The Ushers and be shot in 3-D with Stephen Kay attached to direct.
