News briefs: Wild Things is tops; Monster gets director

Where the Wild Things Are topped the Oct. 16 weekend box office with an estimated $32.5 million domestically, BoxOfficeMojo.com reported; Paranormal Activity, meanwhile, scared up an estimated $20.2 million in its rollout to more than 1,250 screens at 760 sites.

Director Wes Craven announced on Twitter that his long-gestating horror movie 25/8 has a new title: "As you know, '25/8' was a working title only. I'm excited to announce the release title - 'MY SOUL TO TAKE.' #mysoultotake ... "

Mike Mitchell (Shrek Forever After) will direct Monster Squad, formerly known as Nightcrawlers, a supernatural action comedy at Warner Brothers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Scott Derrickson (The Day the Earth Stood Still) will direct The Living, a supernatural suspense thriller for Lakeshore Entertainment, Variety reported; the plotline is being kept under wraps.
