News briefs: X-Files alumna joins Walking Dead

Laurie Holden, who is perhaps best known to sci-fi fans as Marita Covarrubias in The X-Files, has joined the cast of Frank Darabont's apocalyptic zombie drama The Walking Dead for AMC, according to The Hollywood Reporter; Holden, who previously worked with Darabont on his creepy Stephen King movie The Mist, will play Andrea, a member of the survivor group who has a proficiency with a sniper rifle and falls for a man twice her age.

Summit Entertainment has slated a Nov. 18, 2011, release date for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, though it remains unclear whether the final chapter in the Twilight saga—based on the fourth of Stephenie Meyer's best-sellers—will be broken up into two films, HitFix reported.

Speaking of Twilight, the third movie in the series, Eclipse, will debut in theaters on June 30 nationwide and in IMAX; it will also premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival, which takes place June 17-27.

CBS Consumer Products announced that it will re-launch the official online destination for Star Trek, StarTrek.com, this summer, with a new web design and added features.

BBC America will air the second season of Being Human starting July 24, directly following the Doctor Who season finale.

An unrated two-disc Blu-ray edition of Hot Tub Time Machine drops on June 29 from MGM Home Entertainment.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief arrives on Blu-ray and DVD June 29 from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.
