News briefs: Zombieland writers to tackle Deadpool?

C.H.U.D. reports a rumor that the writers behind the hit Zombieland—Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick—may be asked to take a shot at adapting Deadpool, based on the Marvel Comics character; played by Ryan Reynolds, a version of the character appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine this year.

The upcoming remake The Wolfman has been rated R for "bloody horror, violence and gore." The movie, starring Benicio del Toro, opens Feb. 12, 2010.

Original Aliens star Lance Henriksen has signed up to appear in the upcoming Aliens vs. Predator game, developed by Rebellion in the U.K., playing Karl Bishop Weyland, a descendant of Charles Bishop Weyland, the founder of the infamous Weyland-Yutani corporation from the Aliens universe. He will lend his likeness and voice to the production.

Demons, a contemporary spin on the legacy of Bram Stoker's Dracula, premieres on Jan. 2, 2010, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on BBC America; the series stars Philip Glenister (Life on Mars) as straight-talking American Rupert Galvin, who is called to recruit the last descendant of Van Helsing to fight the forces of evil before he is assassinated.

The classic British sci-fi series Red Dwarf is now in the iTunes Store in the U.S.; all eight seasons are available for sale and download.
