Two solid genre franchises confirmed the returns of their major stars today — with one very athletic addition.
First, the sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will have Nick Jonas returning as the trapped-in-the-game Alex. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Sony sequel can count the actor alongside the rest of its returning cast, which includes adult stars (Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan) as well as those who played the film’s teens (Ser’Darius Blain, Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, and Morgan Turner).
The sequel certainly isn’t messing with a good thing, adding a few all-stars to the cast (Danny DeVito, Danny Glover, and Awkwafina), with the film being helmed by Welcome to the Jungle director Jake Kasdan.
The yet-to-be-titled return to the wilderness is set to hit theaters on Dec. 13.
Next, American Horror Story head honcho Ryan Murphy announced that not only will star Emma Roberts return to AHS for the series’ ninth season, but she’d have a famous love interest to boot. Murphy went on Instagram to break the news with an expertly timed thirst trap.
Check it out:
That’s Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy, who will be “playing Emma Roberts’ boyfriend on 'American Horror Story' Season 9,” according to Murphy’s post. Roberts — a Murphy favorite — has appeared in Seasons 3, 4, 7, and 8 of the anthology, while Kenworthy has only ever appeared on a single episode of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars.
AHS 9 does not yet have a premiere date, but the show has been renewed through its 10th season.
