Nightwing is kickass in concept art for 2009 series that never was

Back in 2009, wanting to capitalize on the success of the Batman franchise, DC was eyeing a cartoon based on former Robin Dick Grayson's grown-up alter ego Nightwing. Sadly, the show never made it past the development stage. But some cool concept art has finally surfaced from the project. Want to see what could have been?

The pieces were put together by Ki Hyun Ryu, an artist and director who has worked on Legend of Korra, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Batman: Year One.

The show would have focused on the adventures of Nightwing and Raven, and the pics show off a pretty awesome take on the Nightwing costume, as well as some casual shots of both being incognito. Raven has since popped up in the Teen Titans series, and actually sports a pretty similar look.

Check out the artwork below, and behold the cool Nightwing series that could have been.
