No capes allowed on the new roller coaster based on The Incredibles

It's time to become one of the Incredibles! Though some villains may think that when everyone's special, nobody is ... a new ride coming to Disney Parks may prove them wrong.

It is called "The Incredicoaster," and it's based on the classic Pixar film The Incredibles. The ride is part of the general redesign of Paradise Pier at the Disney California Adventure -- as was announced previously this year at D23, the entire area is being rebranded as "Pixar Pier." The paradise moniker would still be applicable, though, since a Pixar world is pretty much paradise ... aside from all of the pathos and toy incinerators.

The new "Incredicoaster" will replace a previous stilted track coaster, and today a new video is giving us a first look at what we might expect.

As the photo above shows, several parts of the coaster are being covered in tunneling. This will allow for several sections of the ride to take place in a darker area, where projections and animations can play out. With a family as multitalented as this one, the possibilities are as huge as Mr. Incredible's chest.

The video promises a bit of fun with each member of the family, but it specifically points out how the covered sections gave them an opportunity to use the ever-elastic Mrs. Incredible, stretching her way the entire length of the tube like so:

The ride also promises to contain superhero fashion designer Edna Mode taking care of the unpredictable Jack-Jack, so that alone will be worth the trip.

Most exciting of all, the new roller coaster promises to incorporate not only elements from the first Incredibles film, but parts of the upcoming sequel as well. The new ride should be ready to roll in summer of 2018.
