Netflix subscribers will be in for a treat this coming Friday when Marvel’s The Defenders premieres alongside a futuristic dystopian thriller titled What Happened to Monday — and we have the first clip of the movie starring Prometheus star Noomi Rapace.
Playing septuplets (the film’s original title was Seven Sisters) in a world that puts a limit on the number of children people can have, Rapace will do her very best Tatiana Maslany impression by playing seven identical sestras (Orphan Black fans will get that one) in the movie, directed by Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters).
Alongside Noomi Rapace — who recently spoke exclusively to SYFY WIRE about the movie and whether or not she’d return to the Alien franchise — What Happened to Monday also stars Glenn Close and Willem Dafoe. So you’ve got a pretty great cast right there.
Read up on the synopsis before taking a look at the clip. What Happened to Monday premieres August 18 on Netflix.
2073. The Earth is overpopulated. The government decided to introduce a one-child policy, applied by the Birth Control Board, under the aegis of Nicolette Cayman (Glenn Close). Confronted with the birth of seven-fold, Terrence Settman (Willem Dafoe) decides to keep the existence of his 7 granddaughters secret. Confined to their apartment, each day they will have to share a unique identity outside, simulating the existence of one person: Karen Settman (Noomi Rapace). If the secret remains intact for years, everything collapses on the day when Monday mysteriously disappears.
