November 19 in Sci-Fi History: Addams Family Values

It was on this day in 1993 that arguably one of the greatest sequels ever made (and we have a lengthy list of those) premiered.

 

Addams Family Values was written by Paul Rudnick and directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, and most importantly it's one of Joan Cusack's crowning achievements. She plays Debbie Jalinski, the love interest of Uncle Fester.

 

The kids go to summer camp, where Peter Scolari and Christine Baranski are amazing.

 

There's an incredible Thanksgiving pageant.

 

And Christina Ricci and David Kruholtz burn down a first kiss scene, quite literally.

 

For real, if you're looking for something to watch while you recover from Thanksgiving, both Addams Family movies are brilliant creations.
