What does Hollywood have against nuns? First, The Conjuring universe turned a European abbey into a veritable fun house of haunted thrills in The Nun. Now, IFC Midnight is pretty much doing the same thing with Welcome to Mercy.
The movie (directed by Tommy Bertelsen) centers on a single mother (played by Kristen Ruhlin), who begins to experience strange symptons that nearly drive her to murder her daughter. She seeks out religious help from a priest, ending up in the care of nuns, who plan to exorcise her dark, inner problems.
But are these nuns as pure-hearted as they claim to be?

Judging by the preview, we'd say Welcome to Mercy is a mixture of The Nun, The Exorcist, Shutter Island, The Wicker Man, and and A Cure for Wellness.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the film will enjoy its world premiere at Brooklyn's Horror Film Festival on Oct 13, and also receive a screening at Screamfest in L.A. It opens in theaters and arrives on VOD on Nov 2.
