The stars of YouTube's Cobra Kai, Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, stopped by SYFY WIRE's Live Stage at NYCC after their panel to talk a little bit more about what Karate Kid fans can expect in their upcoming second season.
It turns out, one of the most iconic props from the original 1984 Karate Kid will once again factor into the storyline.
While the two had already mentioned that the house of Mr. Miyagi (played in the original films by the late Pat Morita) will be one of Season 2's new set pieces, Macchio offered one additional nugget about what comes with that iconic setting.
"[It] includes all the cars, including the wax on/wax off car," Macchio said, referring to the infamous 1947 Ford Convertible that was an integral part of Daniel LaRusso's earliest lessons.
"In the essence of our story, you learn that [Mr. Miyagi] was always a big part of LaRusso's life, and keeping martial arts in the fabric every day," Macchio said, before adding, "He's the human Yoda of the Karate Kid universe."
"That legacy of Miyagi and the late, great Pat Morita will go on forever, and is a big part of our show," Macchio explained. "It's important to have that balance with [the show] being Cobra Kai."
Macchio also promised some new characters, though any specifics were kept under wraps, as well as "some Easter eggs and some exciting fight sequences" to keep things interesting.
Cobra Kai will return to YouTube for Season 2 in Spring 2019. In the meantime, you can check out all of SYFY WIRE’s full coverage of NYCC 2018 here, including up-to-the-minute news, exclusive interviews, and videos.
